Maximum custody

Hi,

Could you please tell me what is the meaning of ""maximum custody" and"" custody classification" in : upon initial confinement, you have been placed in maximum custody and will remain in this cell until your conduct warrants your custody classification being changed.

Thanks in advance

I assume this means ' maximum security ', which is the term I always see. It refers to the most closely supevised and guarded area of a prison. Your security classification' indicates the degree of security you are subject to.
