mauled to death

A two-month old was killed today. Police believed he was mauled by one of the familly's dogs. Both dogs, a small pug and a baby labrador, were removed from the house and the mother was taken to the hospital for a checkup. She looked devastated. How could a parent not know his/her baby is attacked? There must have been some struggle and some noise. Unbeliveable. Police are not suspecting foul play.
