my mother was 27 when she had me.

8 years ago she was twice as old as I will be in five years time.

how old am I now?

Top answer

Use trial and error and hone the starting number. I started with '21' and then changed to lower numbers to get closer to the sum working. If I am nine, my mother is 36.
