Because of Hou is an amateur of mathematics, however, he used many non-professional-mathematics-languages in his essay. Perhaps because of this, many mathematics experts would not like to read it. Prof.Jia said that Hou needs to modify his essay with professional mathematic language, if he wants his research result to truly get recognition from people.

1) "The reporter" obviously refers to third person, while the writer of the article reported in
first person, so I wonder whether i can just use "reporter"?

2) I am not absolutely sure the usage "essay" is wrong, but it seems that "treatise" is better.

I meant to ask you about those items.

(1) I had trouble with this because, in my experience, such public announcements are given to reporters assembled for the purpose-- a person or his agent calls the newspapers and arranges a press conference, small or large. Therefore, the newspaper articles will invariably read, 'Mr. Zed told reporters on Tuesday...'

I presume that it is the reporter who is writing your article. If 'reporters' is not used, then another common form is, 'Mr. Zed told this reporter on Tuesday...'

(By the way, I notice that you regularly omit the space between the period of 'Mr.' and the first letter of the surname, like this: 'Mr.Zed'. There should be a space, like this: 'Mr._Zed'.)

(2) I also failed to evaluate these word choices, although it did cross my mind, Jobb. There are several available, and I am not sure precisely what kind of paper it is that Mr.Hou has written. Is it in the form of a dissertation? (no, that would be part of acquiring an advanced degree). A monograph? An article? In what sort of a publication did it appear-- an academic journal? A popular science magazine? An essay tends to be on a subject in the arts or humanities, while a treatise is more a systematic academic discussion on the principles of a topic. Has he written a 'proof' of the Goldbach Conjecture? A verification? A justification? A resolution? A solution? These are all more specific words, that would perhaps serve your purpose much better.... And I am sure there are more word choices, if I could only think of them!
