Match

Hello,

Is my sentence correct?

Animals use protective coloration to match with the environment. Does verb match require preposition?

Thank you in advance.

Because "match" could be something else, I think that "blend with" is the term you want.

Thank you Philip. In fact, I used match as a synonym for blend into. Now, my question is do I need a preposition?

No, you don't need a preposition with 'match'.

But I agree with Philip that match is an unsuitable alternative to blend into or blend in with in this context.
