Masterchef

Just a quick question that has been irritating me of late! At the beginning of Masterchef, the narrator says "Only an elite group of chefs holds two Michelin stars".

Is this correct, or should 'holds' be replaced with 'hold'? Bear in mind that the 'group of chefs' do not hold two Michelin stars between them - they each hold two Michelin stars.
