Master of philosophy

Hi.

What's the difference between master of science and master of philosophy.

I study mechanical engineering. Should I write master of philosophy or master of science at my dissertation.

I have seen Doctor of philosophy quite a few times, but I came across master of philosophy the other day for the first time which puzzled me.

Thanks

The M.Phil. is a postgraduate degree which kind of occupies a space between an M.S./M.A. and a Ph.D. Chances are good that if you're pursuing something called a Master's degree in mechanical engineering, you're pursuing an M.S., not an M.Phil
