Master Application Review
Hello,
it would be very kind if anyone of you could review my letter of motivation for Master application since I'm not a native speaker.
I appreciate any kind of feedback
Letter of motivation for Master in Advanced Product Design
Dear Txxxxx Xxxx,
since I can remember I always used to be a person who enjoyed creative activities. At the age of 13 I went to a free art school, where I was the youngest participant in that course. At high school (Gymnasium) students used to categorize me as "the artist". Though my intention was never just to create anything but to create something with meaning and a purpose. In 2013 I pursued this goal by starting my studies in product design at the FH Xxxxxx in Germany.
Creating a pedelec for a pedelec rental scheme was one of my first projects there. It was a cooperation with the company "Velocity" and a design competition among our design course. From the very first beginning of the project we were in contact with the client and could adapt our design to their needs and visions. At the end of the semester my design was among the four designs picked by Velocities representatives. This project as well as my project "Spirl", which you can find in my portfolio, was supervised by Mxxxxx Xxxxxx, a lecturer with a reputable design agency (Xxxxxxxxxxx) and design experience at xxxx design.
With the choice of my abroad studies in Malaysia and my internship at "Ix Xxxxxx" I intended to broaden my knowledge in product design. During my abroad studies I had the opportunity to be taught by lecturers with an educational background from the UK, Australia and Germany. The project "Vetro" was supervised by lecturers, who worked for Proton, the most common automotive brand in Malaysia, and Nike. Through the new experiences during the past year I could improve my sketching skills and learn more about how to create products that solve problems, human- centered design and marketing.
Creating products, which focusses on humans, their needs, motivations, feelings and experiences enables to create emotionally and functional meaningful products. It is part of the holistic product design process of your programme and one of the reasons I would like to participate in it. I am curious about learning more about creating a product due to a design strategy, for example regarding human- centered design and creating products that fit a certain brand. Furthermore, it is an important aspect that the Master in Advanced Product Design prepares one pretty well for working life. Projects vary from individual and group work and often they are part of a cooperation with renown companies such as Philips, Smart Design, Atlas Copco, Nokia and many more. This is also appreciated by a lot of design agencies and companies.
