Massage&tweak/sentence

Hi there,

In the below dialogue at an office scenario, I'd like you to help me what "massage and tweak" in John's sentence means, as well as the exact meaning of the whole Bill's sentence and also if both are colloquial or normal English

(John) Bill this report looks pretty good. I am sure with time we could massage and tweak but I think we need to get something to our client sooner rather than later. If you think we are good to go then I think we should send it out.

(Bill) John printed this off earlier it does the job for me.

thanks in advance

Hello V. 'Bill, this report is very good. If we had time, we could change the wording and adjust the figures so that it looked even better, but our client is expecting something from us very soon.

  • Hello V.
  • 'Bill, this report is very good.
  • If we had time, we could change the wording and adjust the figures so that it looked even better, but our client is expecting something from us very soon.
  • ' 'John, I printed this out earlier.
  • ' Yes, I'm afraid John and Bill do indeed talk normal/colloquial English.

Hello V.

'Bill, this report is very good. If we had time, we could change the wording
and adjust the figures so that it looked even better, but our client is
expecting something from us very soon. If you think it's good enough to
send in its present condition, then we should send it to the client.'

'John, I printed this out earlier. It looks satisfactory to me.

Thanks MrP; the most tough one for me to figure out was "it does the job for me" meaning "it looks satisfactory to me"!

On reflection, maybe 'satisfactory+'.

But not quite as good as:

'It's the business!' = 'it's really very good!'.
