Since no Americans seem to be available, I'll do my best. The spelling is: Massachusetts. The pronunciation is something like: Mass-a-CHEW-sis Any residents of the state please feel free to correct me on this.

I'm not from Massachusetts but I'd pronounce it /mass-a-'chew-sits/
the 'a' before the stressed syllable being a SCHWA as the 'a' in 'about'.
This phoneme (graphically rendered with an 'e' upside down is typucal of word parts spoken without stress. Open any dictionary and you'll find hundreds of examples in the phonemic transcription alongside each word.

John C. suggests the pronunciation is similar to the first sample.
Waugh suggests something similar to the second sample.

The second pronunciation is correct, and I should know, having lived here for 35 years.Emotion: big smile

As a resident of New Hampshire I speak to lots of people from Mass.

Most prevalent pronunciation I hear is actually a funny variant of the standard ****. in that the second /s/ is actually a /z/. So: mass/eh/'chooz/its. I hear that a lot in both NH and Mass.
In most other places I think it's just plain old mass/eh/'choo/sits.

I have a southwestern American accent, and I would pronounce "Massachusetts" as /mass uh choo setts/, just about like it is written.

0 00The word ‘Massachusetts’ (doesn't it sound funny?)00 00is often parodied in French, since part of it sounds and is almost spelt as the French word for 'socks': 'chaussettes'.00 00So, it can00 00(literally and not so literally) be translated as ‘massage your socks’, ‘sock merchant’, ‘sock mask’ or ‘puts on his socks’, to give a few examples.02br
