Masquerade (verb)

How does it sound to you (I'm not sure, that I use masquerade correctly')?

1) It was interesting to observe, how this girl had masqueraded as a boy for 2 months, and nobody noticed it.

2) The only thing I can recommend you is don't masquerade as someone else, just be yourself!
