Married

Hi Sir/Madam, I want to tell my colleagues my marriage status. Should I tell them

I was married. How about you?

Top answer

"I was married" = I am now divorced or widowed. Is that what you mean? I wouldn't volunteer this information, however.

Hi Sir/Madam, What if I added the timing in the sentence?

I was married 5 years ago

I was married in 2003

I am married ( I'm not single or divorced)

If you still are married (as I understood), you should use

"I have been married for 5 years"

"I have been married since 2003"

Others may have better ideas.
