Marriage should be according to one's own...

Hi

In my language, there is a saying whose translation in English would be something like this.

Marriage should be according to one's own standard. (A very rich family should not marry off their daughter to a man of humble origin or vice versa...)

or

One should marry someone according to one's own standard/status.

Could you please tell me how these translations sound to your ears? Any (rough) equivalent?

Thanks,

Tom

Always marry within your own class.

(No, your suggestions don't sound right to my ear. Emotion: sad )
