marks

I would like to know if there is a name for the following marks:
Students sit two exams. The first one doesn't count at the end of the year, it's just informative, for the students to know about their progress. The mark is based on the results of the second and final exam.
Can I say "guiding mark" for the results of the first exam and "final mark" for the results of the second one?
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

I thnkI'd call such an exam 'a mock exam', because it is not a real exam. And I'd speak of 'my mark in the mock exam / my mock exam mark'.

Clive.
