Hugo Paul's populist Cry Rape: Anatomy of the Rapist confidently told his readers that it was simply not possible for a single man to rape a resisting woman.He went further ,in fact ,declaring that even two men could not succeed 'without such use of and violence as to abolish the ment's desire and potency'. He elaborated in an arithmetic fashion:rape required a minimum of three men to take place,he finally calculated, because 'the average rapist is repelled by violence, especially themarking of the victim'.

Together with the word "violence," I think it would suggest tissue damage - cuts, bruises, abrasions, bleeding, etc.

Edit. I agree with GG, BTW. I think the best advice I ever heard is that the victim should vomit on the assailant.
