Vocabulary

market, marketplace

I have no idea of the difference between the word market and marketplace. e.g.

-Being first in the marketplace has also helped..

-Being first in the market has also helped..

are they both correct and of the same meaning?

Thanks!

Hi, In sentences like this, there is no real difference. The words are not being used in a very physical, tangible sense. Here is a simple physical example to consider.

Hi,

Here is a simple physical example to consider. Near where I live, there is an area that is called a marketplace. There is a market there on Saturdays, which is when farmers bring their vegetables etc.to sell there.

Best wishes, Clive
