Marked on grammar and spelling?

The original sentence is:

You are not marked on correct grammar or spelling, provided we understand you.

It's excerpted from some courseware, and I am wondering what it means. I posted this question on Yahoo!Answers, and I get an answer which suggests an interpretation as follows:

"means as long as the grader can comprehend what you wrote, any bad grammar or spelling won't affect your grade."

The interpretation seems to make sense, but what does "marked on" mean in the original sentence?

Thanks.
