Marine sculpture

There is a sculpture in the middle of the sea.

Do I have to say "a sculpture in the sea" or "a sculpture over the sea"?

what about the bridge crossing the sea? "the bridge is built over the sea" Is it correct?

Thank you

An Jiyoung Do I have to say "a sculpture in the sea" or "a sculpture over the sea"? You may have to explain it in more detail or in a different way. Most people would assume it was not submerged even if you said "in", but if it is submerged, you'll have to clarify.

  • Maybe "over" would be better, though that almost puts it in mid-air.
  • A sculpture should be "on" something, I would think.
