Marine grade plywood is a typical designation, using waterproof glue, etc. - top of the line.

Not knowing what the prior context is, I'd assume "teeth" is off the wall - something he thought of after a pause, as a joke. That is, what could we design that would be marine grade? Sharks' teeth are sort of special. They might be superior to your average run-of-the-mill teeth.

Marine-grade is strong enough resist the conditions on a boat or at the seashore, e.g. salt air: marine-grade timber, marine-grade paint. Surely "marine-grade teeth" is a joke of some kind?
