how to differentiate between marginal and minute change ...

where to use correctly these both confusing words.
EX.
The improvement made by changes in the system was ....................and did not warrant the large expenses.

Margin is amount allowed beyond what is absolutely necessary. Marginal is out of the mainstream. I think size is called for here and marginal wouldn't be a good choice. Minute is very small. Small is little. The difference in the last two is a matter of degree. I would likely use minute to emphasize how large expenses weren't needed but its almost a matter of preference. Perhaps in a real scenari
