Margin of error

Hello,

Is the expression "margin of error" used correctly in the following sentences?

1.The numbers were estimated with a slight margin of error.
2. There's a margin of error in the estimated numbers of the world population.

Thanks!

I wouldn't say that your sentences are wrong. However, the word 'estimate' includes the idea that the number is inexact, so it seems unnecessary to mention that there is a margin of error. I usually see this phrase used when the size of the margin of error is specified, eg The numbers were estimated with a 5% margin of error.
