Many young people who leave school hold a negative attitude towards learning. Why does this happen? What are the solutions?

Nowadays, many young people intend to drop out of school and keep an adverse attitude towards schooling. Although there will undoubtedly be some negative consequences of this trend, solutions can be taken to mitigate the problem mentioned above.

There are a number of reasons for the rising of this tendency. Firstly, rigid teaching styles make students dull, especially traditional methods that turn out not to be suitable for students nowadays, forcing them to follow an old, inflexible way of learning. Secondly, too many subjects are being applied to students’ curriculum as well as tests and exams, leading to the stress and tiredness of learners. Furthermore, they are also affected by the life story of many billionaires who dropped out of school and built their own wealthy careers like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg…., therefore they adopt the mindset that they can have their own successful life without schooling.

However, there are several actions that could be taken to solve this issue. The first one is to alter the teaching strategy, for example, while lecturing teachers should make up some interesting games in order to encourage students to join the lesson. Furthermore, students should be fostered to speak out in front of the class so that they would be more self-assured and respected, and teachers had better support students’ ideas even if they are ridiculous. Finally, learners ought to think clearly that if they leave school, they might have their own successful career but it is so risky, even they will get failure in the first place and some might lose their hopes, passions…

To conclude, leaving school is a rising trend that many young populations are experiencing, though various measures still can be implemented to tackle the problem mentioned above.
