Many words I don't understand.

" When you wake up in the morning, there are that many different things that could or maybe will happen to you that day. Maybe you will get run over by a bus, maybe you will get blown up by a terrorist, maybe you will get knifed by a drug fuelled teenager, maybe yur daughter will pitch up and announce she is addicted to heroin. Maybe you will end up in a pych hosiptal because you have worried yourself into the ground about what can and might / might not happen."

Words with bold are the words I do not understand quite well.

I'm 99% sure that this is the intended meaning here. "Pitch up" = "turn up", "show up".
