Hi. According to Cambridge Online Dictionary (I think we should capitalize all the words), the definition of the word "mug" is as follows (with an example sentence after a colon):
a large cup with straight sides used for hot drinks:
I made myself a large mug of cocoa (=enough to fill a mug) and went to bed.
Now, my question is, "Why "sides"?" Does a cup have many sides? Any help from you teachers would be appreciated.
" Does a cup have many sides? A cylindrical mug has one side; faceted mugs would have a number of sides: SIDE: 1. one of the surfaces forming the outside of or bounding a thing
