Organizing an event of international stature has always been considered as the most difficult decision of any country in the world. While a few people support the argument that a host nation will suffer negative effects, I would argue that the host country will definitely get significant benefits.
For a variety of reasons, it would be hard to deny some adverse effects from being a host country. Firstly, the risk of complaints about the organisation will be a main concern. For instance, any poor quality infrastructure needed to accommodate ardent supporters and the provision of services may be criticized by member countries in the worldwide sporting event. Secondly, a host nation is related to domestic security. In fact, the threat of terrorism is becoming increasingly common and an international sporting event can easily be a target or terrorists.
Conversely, it cannot be denied that there can be significant benefits for a host country. For example, being a host nation helps generate conditions in which a country can improve not only sport facilities but also infrastructure. Particularly, roads, railways, accommodation and other forms of substructure need to be upgraded to achieve appropriate standards. Furthermore, financial profits may be maximized considerably. Obviously, people from all over the world spend a large amount of money on food and services in the country where the event takes place. Moreover, the reputation of this country will be expanded by mass communication.
In conclusion, becoming a host nation is greatly beneficial to the infrastructure and economy. However, it can cause some dangerous problems. In my opinion, a country should take a chance to become a host country at any cost because it brings more benefits than unexpected circumstances.
