Many people believe that social networking (such as Facebook ) have a huge negative impact on both individuals and society. To what extent do you agree.

The purpose of social networking site has been a topic of concern in today’s society. Some people consider it a technological advancement, others are in favor of the opposite. As far as this concerned, I firmly believe that the positive aspects are more significant than the negative ones.

It is undeniable that Facebook is a useful tool in terms of finding long-lost friends or family members. Thanks to social media, a picture could be spread to hundreds of different places in a just a short amount of time. For instance, an old American veteran managed to get in touch with his Vietnamese lover after 50 years separated. In addition, Facebook is also a source of entertainment where people can refresh their minds by joining the social networking site. There is plenty of pictures taken by people throughout the world which can make you experience a miniature world.

Nevertheless, much mischief planed by bad guys often tricks Facebook users out of private information, bank account etc. A illustration to this is that they can take advantage of celebrities’ fan page to lure people to meet them. Last but not least, overusing Facebook can lead to mental illness due to lack of proper meals and sedentary lifestyle. Research has shown that such way of living can increase risk of being autism, ADHD etc.

In short, there are both benefits and drawbacks as to the question is it good to use Facebook. Its function helps society at large, despite the downside being bad to your health and privacy.
