Many people = a many?

Hello,

Could you please suggest whether it is possible to refer to an

indefinite relatively big group of people as "a many"? For instance,

does the following sentence make sense:

"The impossibility to take a shower or use up-to-date personal

care items would frighten a many (= many people)."

Thanks in advance.
