Many high street shops have gone out of business in recent years. Why do you think this has happened? Is it a positive or negative development?

It is true that there has been extinct in stores in high street in recent times . There are several reasons to account for this development, which might lead to various negative consequences.


On the one hand, the disappearance of traditional bricks-and-mortar stores can be attributed to a range of causal factors. For a start, the widespread of web-base stores due to the development of the technology. This is because, it is more convenient for customers to shopping online. Instead of spending time going out to shopping, clients can purchase all items by one-click-mouse. For instance, during covid-19, people have ordered online daily comodities such as food, clean water and drugs because of ban. Moreover, the appearance of multinational businesses makes high street shops become unpopular. This due to the fact that big businesses have good marketing strategy which local stores do not have. Thus, the popularity of mulinational companies’ items is higher than local stores.


On the one hand, the growth of other sort of shopping can be the culprit of a couple of thorny problems. To begin with , the unemployment rate is higher so it will make burden on society. When people do not have jobs, the government needs to support them. What is more, there are negative scoial issues such as wealth gap and theft. For example, the burglary rate during covid-19 has increased significantly because some people do not have enough money to maintain their life.


In conclusion, the phenomenon occurs because of the appearance of web-based stores and multinational business. It is can lead to the unempolyment rate.
