mantra

Work-life balance seems to be the city's mantra.

My dictionary says 'mantra' is "a word, phrase or sound that is repeated again and again, especially during prayer or meditation.".

Then, is 'mantra' in this sentence like a slogan or a motto repeatedly chanted?

Top answer

Yes, sort of-- everybody in the city is thinking and talking about 'work-life balance'.
