man or men or the man

Hi,

Would you say all three, 'man', 'men' and 'the man', are acceptable (correct?) here? I think the word 'man' encompasses all the people living in the earth.
This is a clue sentence for the animal 'snake'.

My blood and flesh are said to give energy to man.

The man makes no sense unless the clue is referring to a specific man, like 'the man on the screen' or 'Dwight D. Eisenhower'.
