'Male' can be used?

Dear friends,
I saw a board on which a word 'male' is used to indicate a men's room (public toilet). I wonder if it can be used like that? Thanks for your help.

Note, I saw the board in a non-English-speaking country.

It's not used that way in the U.S.

Men is the most common, followed by Gentlemen.

Really? Never Male/Female?

I posted at the same time as you, so I didn't mean to contradict you, but no, I have never seen "male" used outside a men's restroom.

I don't think it's correctly used too. I believe that 'male' is usually used in ***, right?

Well yes, male refers to men; the male of any species. But also it can refer to the pokey bit of an electrical plug e.g. headphone plugs have a 'male' jack which plugs into a corresponding 'female' hole... lol
