Malcontents or discontents?

a sentence completion quesiton:
A lot of people are never satisfied with anything anybody does for them. They complain endlessly and then do not understand when they find themselves branded as and left all alone when they finally really need help.

(A) malcontents
(B) discontents
(C) incontinent
(D) hypocrites
What's the answer? I can't find a clear distinction between "malcontent" and "discontent."

[nq:1]I'd choose "malcontents". The "mal" gives a feeling of a condition of perpetual discontentment. The "dis" in "discontents" gives a feeling of no longer being contented. I'd argue if either of the two was marked incorrect, though.[/nq]
