Making comparisons using like

Hi,

Could you tell me whether the following sentence is correct?

Like the power generating apparatus of a conventional car, that of a hybrid car depends on combustible fuel to generate power.

I am not sure whether I should repeat the reference of power generating apparatus in the latter part of the sentence.

Thanks,
Richards.
