making an appointment

Hi,
Let's say, I'm supposed to meet a friend but something has come up, so I tell him: "Sorry, something has come up and I won't be able to see tonight" for example. But how can I say that we'll "set up another appointment" later. I want to be idiomatic because I'm talking to a friend of mine and I guess I shouldn't call it an appointment but I'm not sure what to say instead.

Thank you

Osama

Thanks, Philip. But I don't wanna give him a time since I'm not sure when I can meet him yet. I think your sentence suggests that I should give the person or agree with him on a specific time after I "say" or "text" that sentence, right?

I think this gives your friend the opportunity to suggest a time/date.
