Make/take a video

Hello!
I wrote these rules.

To take a video- it means registering something or somebody on your camera.
To make a video- it means to produce a movie.

It that right?

But for registering something or somebody on your camera., I usually hear 'video' as a verb.
eg I videoed Tom and Mary at the beach.

The word registering, is an odd choice. Both of your suggestions seem to mean filming something on video.
