Hi.
The following is an isolated sentence in my textbook.
This is my favorite movie, but I hope they don't try to make a sequel; some stories are good enough on their own.
I can't properly work out the overall meaning of this sentence. Is getting a movie better the only reason for making a sequel to the movie? Some stories are too long to be fit into one movie, so there should be sequels to complete the story; it may have nothing to do with the previous one being good enough or not.
The remark applies to a movie whose story is complete within itself. A sequel would be a newly conceived additional story featuring the same characters. In general, movie sequels fail to live up to the quality or impact of their predecessors.
