Make up (the) beds

Hi everyone,

I often have a problem with articles. Could you tell me if the sentence requires "the"
"She made up beds before we returned home"?

Thank you.

They are specific beds: use the article. "She made up beds for a living [in a hotel]": less likely to use the article.

Hi,

In everyday English, when I get out of bed in the morning and refold the sheet and blankets in a nice and tidy way, I am 'making the bed'. Same thing when I change the sheets. I don't use 'make up'.

I associate 'make up a bed' with hotels, and also when guests come to my home. In other words, it's a fancier term.
