make up for a day off - looking for a good phrase/verb to describe it

Hello! Can any of you good men and women suggest me a phrase which would mean "to work on an additional day of work to make up for your day off" Sometimes you have to do it in advance too (for example, for the days off scheduled at the begining of the year, for example holiday etc).
I thought about "to work off days off", but it sounds clumsy, and I am not sure of work off can be used in this sense (we can work off a debt, but is working on a different day instead of a given day a situation, in which this verb could be used)?

Thanks for all your suggestions!
Johnny

I would like to take a day off and make it up with comp time (in advance).

Of course it depends on your company's policy regarding vacation time, sick leave and comp time.
