When we are children, we deal with difficult topics in many ways. For example, a child may want to know why he can't watch an R rated movie. One thing he may do is go ask his dad about it. Dads tend to be more easygoing than moms in some cases. Another thing a child may do is simply not watch the movie. A child does not contain a lot of knowledge and may simply not question the command. I do not believe it is possible to "grow up too fast." I actually think that it is more healthy for a child to be exposed to more "grown up" topics earlier rather than later. This is because if the child has always dealt with an inappropriate subject, he may feel less of a desire to rebel against it and possibly commit it. Teens tend to do things that their parents told them not to or kept away from them during their rebeling stages. I can relate to this. Because my parents have always tried to keep my "isolated", I have this flaming desire to go out and explore the world. Margi from the book Persepolis can also relate to the claims I have made. For example, Marji believed that the shah was chosen by god by simply reading it in a textbook as a child. She didn't question it for she had nothing to compare it to. Also, Marji didn't question having to wear the veils much. This was because she didn't even understand why she had or didn't have to wear it in the first place. She was a young child. In addition, because she was forced to wear a veil, during her rebeling stages she tried not to wear it.
