Make the music/face the music

Hello

In order to make the music, we have to face the music: ultimately you must accept that your well-being, your care, your progress in life, will come from you!

--- I understand the above this way: In order to gain something we must be ready to take consequences/to sacrifice: it means that one has to accept that one's well-being, care (what "care" is the author talking about here) and progress in life depends solely on him/her?

You understand the sentence correctly. I believe by "care" the author means self-care or care for oneself. In other words the author is saying that you are the one who is responsible for your own care/upkeep/maintenance.
