Make of them what one will...

hi , there is a part in the book ego and its own , which says

" One does look at things rightly when one makes of them what one will(by things objects in general are here understood, such as God, our fellow-men, a sweetheart, a book, a beast, etc.). "

I can't understand this part "when one makes of them what one will" or in another translation " A person looks at things just right when he makes of them what he will "
