Make my day

Hello,

I don't really get what make my day means here : http://www.metrolyrics.com/far-in-the-future-lyrics-helloween.html

Normally I would say that it's about making someone feel better, but this context is a bit unusual.

Can you tell me what it means?

Thank you for the explanation and the clip but I can't see how this "give me satisfaction" fits the situation in the film.
The robber is holding a gun to the woman's head and Dirty Harry is talking about satisfaction?

Doesn't make my day have something to do with just give me an excuse to shoot you! ?

This makes sense, but "make my day" in the lyrics must mean something else.

You have to consider the basic idea, not the context.

eg. If you ask your girlfriend to marry you, and she says "yes", then she has "made your day."

Sorry, my post of: Doesn't make my day have something to do with just give me an excuse to shoot you! ? was inspired by the image of Clint Eastwood. In your lyrics, I believe that 'make my day' means to give a real meaning to any particular event. [ The birthday card you sent just made my day! ]

Song lyrics, like poems. often have obscure meanings.
I don' t understand what the phrase means in the song, but the common meaning is as already explained to you.
eg When I heard that I'd passed the exam, it made my day.
