could you, please, tell me if this sentence is correct?

"He always makes exucuses to justify his leaving his wife."

It's fine if you omit 'his'. Since 'he' is the subject of the sentence, and he leaves his wife,there's no need for the subject of the gerund 'leaving'.

He always makes excuses for leaving his wife.

No, it doesn't. Maybe it's something to do with the settings?

Right-click on the "misspelled" text, choose "Languages" and English in the menu that opens. That's how it happens on my computer anyway. I have Windows 7. I do have multiple spell checkers installed, though, so I'm not sure if it works the same way for you.

In Firefox, select on the Menu Bar: Tools--> Options
Click the "Advanced" tab.
Click the "General" tab (it should already be set to "general)
Under "Browsing" check the box labeled "Check my spelling as I type."
