Vocabulary

make different from

Hello,

Is this sentence ok, or is there some more elegant way to express this idea make different from?

Trading as a basic form of economic exchange in a given historic moment replaced robbery and plundering, and made humankind considerably different from animals.

I guess I have a problem with punctuation here.

Thank you very much

How about this: Trading, as a basic form of economic exchange, replaced, in a given historic moment, robbery and plundering, and made humankind considerably different from animals . or, Trading as a basic form of economic exchange, replaced robbery and plundering, and, in a given historic moment, made humankind considerably different from animals . The two phrases have a slightly different meaning, and I don't know which is truer.
