Make a stand & take a stand

Is there a difference between "to make a stand" and "to take a stand"?

If so, when should I use each of them?

Would you please give me some examples?

Thank you in advance for your kind help.

To make a stand is to mount a static defense, like Custer's Last one. To take a stand is to assert an inflexible opinion.
