make a species more desirable for/to collectors and poacher?

The full sentence is:
"Being listed as an endangered species can have negative effect since it could make a species more desirable for/to collectors and poachers."
which is correct in this case : for/ to? I personally found "to" more suitable in meaning.
I search this sentence and it is actually written on wiki, and they use "for", but I'm not very sure of its meaning.
