make a reduction in

Can I use "make a reduction in" in front of "the number" and "control" in front of multiplicity? Thanks.
We can apply a tree regression with bootstrap sampling to make a reduction in the number of attributes to a reasonable size. However, we can also control multiplicity of international data by performing societal control, so there are several alternative approaches available.

Hi, I don't see any grammatical error in neither of the structures you pointed out, however, I would prefer to be concise and use "reduce" instead of "making a reduction". Hamid
