In soccer, is it possible to "make a foul on an opponent" or should I always say "to foul an opponent"? In other words, if I want to treat "foul" as a noun, which verb should I use with regard to soccer?
Thank you.
In modern English, I almost always see 'foul' as a verb. But in older English, it was often said as He committed a foul (against someone) .
