Make a decision VS Take a decision

Hi

Would you say these are essentially synonymous?

I have made my decision.
I have taken my decision.

Or

It's time you made your decision.
It's time you took your decision.

Thanks,

Tom

I'd say they were exactly synonymous. Americans use only "made ... decision", very rarely "took ... decision". In Britain they use "took" more often, but in both varieties of English "made" is the more common choice.
