Make a call

"A male toad makes a call to attract a female toad."
I would like to ask about the meaning of "call" and "make a call" used above.
Does call mean:"the sound that an animal usually makes."

And does "make a call" here mean "to utter loudly that sound or call" ?

Thank you.

A "call" is a sound that an animal makes to advertise its presence, warn off rivals, attract a mate, etc. Animals may have different calls for different purposes, so a call made in any particular situation is not necessarily the sound that the animal usually makes (though of course it may be). The word "call" typically (not always) suggests a reasonably loud sound, but "make a call" does not itself mean "to utter loudly that sound or call", it just means to utter it.
